Tradisi Petik Laut Nelayan Lampon Bayuwangi
Pada setiap bulan Suro untuk memperingati tahun baru dalam penanggalan Jawa, masyarakat nelayan di pesisir Lampon, Kecamatan Pesanggaran, Kabupaten Banyuwangi selalu mengadakan atau menggelar sebuah ritual yang diberi nama sebagai petik laut. Adapun tujuannya adalah sebagai ungkapan rasa syukur kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa atas hasil panen yang melimpah.
Petik laut sendiri merupakan warisan dari leluhur sebagai ungkapan terima kasih kepada penguasa laut atas hasil yang telah diberikan sepanjang satu tahun. Bentuk upacara ini sama seperti upacara lain yang ada pada masyarakat pesisir Pulau Jawa, yaitu melarung sesaji ke tengah laut. Isinya adalah kepala sapi dan sejumlah hasil bumi yang diangkut menggunakan sebuah sampan. Selain sesajin, turut pula dihadirkan pagelaran wayang kulit yang dilaksanakan pada malam harinya.
