Takut Kena Covid-19, Korea Utara Batal Ikut Olimpiade Tokyo
Olimpiade yang rencananya akan digelar pada 23 Juli hingga 8 Agustus mendatang di Tokyo, Jepang, tidak akan diikuti oleh kontingen dari Korea Utara. Alasannya karena mereka khawatir bila para atletnya tertular Covid-19. Apabila demikian, maka ini adalah ketika kalinya mereka absen dari ajang Olimpiade setelah memboikot Olimpiade Los Angeles 1984 dan Seoul 1988.
Sebagaimana diketahui, Korea Utara telah menutup seluruh perbatasannya sejak tahun 2020 guna mencegak masuknya pandemi Covid-19. Dan, semenjak itu, mereka tidak pernah melaporkan adanya kasus Covid-19. Bahkan para diplomat asing serta pekerja kemanusiaan juga sudah mulai meninggalkan Korea Utara seiring dengan terbatasnya barang kebutuhan serta pembatasan ketat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
