Acquisition Editor (Jakarta)

Responsibilities:
1. To identify new publishing opportunities in Indonesia and work together with the Local, Regional and Global Sales, Marketing and Publishing teams to help create, develop and implement a strategic and profitable publishing plan for this rapidly growing market.
2. To work with the Local and Regional Sales & Marketing teams and Local and Regional Finance to prepare project Publishing Proposals, complete with detailed cost analysis and sales forecasts, for approval by senior management.
3. To work together with the Local, Regional and Global Sales, Marketing and Publishing teams to carry out systematic qualitative and quantitative research into the Indonesia market in order to define future publishing opportunities.
4. To work with the Education ministry, and with our distributor partners, on the development, preparation and submission of materials for adoption into the state education sector.
5. To source, develop and manage local editorial/writing resources where applicable to develop relevant classroom support materials.
6. To set up, organize and run local Reviewer/Advisory Groups to shape the direction of our new publishing.

Requirements:
1. A bachelor's degree from a recognized institution; further qualifications in TEFL/TESOL or related areas preferred;
2. An in-depth understanding of the current and future trends in the Indonesian education market;
3. A strong track record in publishing learning materials for the Indonesia market; experience in digital publishing a plus
4. Complete knowledge of the publishing process and budget management;
5. The skills required to create, develop and implement a long-term publishing strategy that produces sustainable growth;
6. Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate in-house and external editorial resources;
7. Exemplary communication skills to interact and work together with the local team, and also represent the local team in regional and global settings;
8. The ability to work closely and build relationships with all the relevant functions within the organization including Production, Sales & Marketing, Finance and HR, and externally with key partners;
9. A high regard for working in an ethical manner and to be able to embody the core Pearson values;
