Bayern edges Lyon 1-0 in Champions League semis

Arjen Robben scored a second half winner as Bayern Munich beat Lyon 1-0 in the first leg of a Champions League semifinal on Wednesday which both sides finished with 10 men.

Robben found the net in the 69th minute with a shot that took a slight deflection off his teammate Thomas Mueller.

Earlier, Bayern's star winger Franck Ribery was sent off in the 37th minute for a challenge on Lisandro and Lyon defender Jeremy Toulalan went off with his second booking in the 54th.

"We still have a tough evening in Lyon, nothing is decided yet," Robben said. "We only have a small advantage.

"We have a strong character. We just keep going. Tonight we fought for 90 minutes, even though it was tough for a while playing 10 against 11. 0-0 was not a good result so we all said we had to give another 10-20 percent. And we did that. In the second half we played better and were the better team."

Bayern had more chances throughout the match, while Lyon relied on rare counterattacks and created few threats. However, Lyon traveled to the match by road over two days because of the suspension in air traffic across Europe following the eruption of a vulcano in Iceland.

"I am not looking for excuses," Lyon coach Claude Puel said. "They put us under a lot of pressure from the start and we lost possession too quickly. Had we kept our man advantage, it may have been a different game.

"I could live with a loss, but I wish we'd scored."

The result was one of the outcomes Bayern had been wishing for, with Lyon failing to score an important away goal. In the other semifinal, Inter Milan beat defending champion Barcelona 3-1 on Tuesday.

"I am very pleased," Bayern coach Louis van Gaal said. "We created a lot of chances but we scored only once. I think we've shown the whole of Europe how strong we are, even with 10 against 11 we were the stronger team.

"We did not concede and we normally score away so Lyon will have to score three to advance and we don't concede three goals that often."

Robben, who has scored several decisive goals for Bayern this season, cut inside from the right flank and sent a shot that took a slight deflection off Mueller and slipped under goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Mueller ducked in an attempt to stay out of the way but the slight deflection was enough to catch Lloris on the wrong foot.

Ribery was sent off for a challenge on Lisandro after losing the ball. Ribery stepped on Lisandro's ankle with his right foot, leaving the Argentine to be carried off the pitch. Lisandro returned a couple of minutes later to a barrage of boos from the partisan crowd.

Last week, Ribery provided testimony for investigators probing a suspected prostitution ring believed to have operated out of a Paris nightclub. Sophie Bottai, Ribery's lawyer, says no charges were filed against him and that he was not held in police custody.

Ribery will now automatically miss next week's second leg in Lyon. He still has not committed himself to a contract extension with Bayern.

"After his red card, I didn't think we would win 1-0," Van Gaal said. "I didn't think it was a red card but he stood on Lisandro's foot a bit too long."

Robben thought the red card for Ribery may have been justified.

"You can live with it," the Dutch winger said. "Of course, he's not the kind of guy who does those kinds of fouls. But he went over the ball and it looked a bit dangerous. Also, because Franck and I get fouled a lot, it's good to see that the referee is there and protects players."

Lyon lost the man advantage when Toulalan received his second booking of the match from referee Roberto Rosetti of Italy for a foul on Bastian Schweinsteiger. Toulalan's first booking was only three minutes earlier.

"I wish we'd scored another goal," Schweinsteiger said.

Bayern defender Philipp Lahm was on the same wavelength, saying that his team did not get the best result.

"But the main thing is that we did not concede a goal," Lahm said. "We can always score at least one goal on the road so it's very important that we kept a clean sheet."

Lahm felt the red card for Ribery was a harsh decision.

"He went after the ball but did not get to it," he said. "I hope that he's only suspended for one game. Not only for us, but also for football because he's a great footballer. And he would fit very well in a Champions League final."

Overall though, the Germany defender was well satisfied with his team's performance.

"I think we did a very, very good job," he said. "You cannot forget that this is a really dangerous opponent with strong individual players. But we did a good job keeping them under pressure."

Ribery banned from Champions League final

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery will miss the Champions League final after being banned for three games by UEFA.

The French international was sent off for serious foul play in the first leg of Bayern's semifinal triumph over Lyon, and UEFA announced the ban Wednesday.

He already sat out Tuesday's 3-0 victory in Lyon, and the second game he will miss is the May 22 final in Madrid against either Barcelona or Inter Milan, who play later Wednesday.

Bayern has three days to appeal.

Chris John prepares special strategy in facing Fernando

Semarang - Indonesia`s WBA super feather champion Chris John said he has prepared a special strategy in facing his upcoming challenger, Fernando David Saucedo, in the title fight in Bali on May 22, 2010.

"A special strategy had been devised in facing Fernando," Chris John, dubbed the "Dragon", said in Semarang Sunday.

The pugilist, who hailed form Banjarnegara regency, Central Java, said he had watched and studied the film on the fight of his upcoming challenger and has become familiar with the fighting type of El Vasco, another name of Fernando David Saicedo.

According to Chris who has defended his title 12 times since he grabbed it from Colombian fighter Oscar Leon in Bali in 2003, Fernando is a true boxer, which means that he is not relying on hard blows, but resilience.

"May be because he has a longer reach, he relies more on techniques, but not too hard," he said.

When asked about his chances in the upcoming title fight against the Argentinian boxer, Chris said of course he is expecting a win.

Chris, who last defended his title against American boxer Rocky Juarez and won by points, said after training at Herry`s Gym in Perth, Western Australia, the training will be continued in Banyuwangi, East Java.

"I will be training at the Mirah Silver Boxing Camp, until the upcoming title fight," he said.

Doohan considered MotoGP comeback

MotoGP legend Mick Doohan, who was chasing a sixth consecutive 500cc world title when he suffered a career-ending accident during qualifying at Jerez in 1999, has revealed that he almost made a comeback several years later.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the 44-year-old Australian - who won all his titles for Honda - made the admission after watching seven time F1 champion Michael Schumacher complete the second race of his comeback.

The SMH reports that Doohan was contacted 'a few years' after his enforced retirement, by a 'satellite Honda team'.

"I told them to give me some time to think about it," Doohan is reported as saying. "I don't think it would have taken me long to get up to speed - I hadn't forgotten how to ride a bike."

But he then added: "I was quite relieved when the team found someone, and I could then stop thinking about it.”

Doohan is third, behind only Giacomo Agostini (8) and Valentino Rossi (7), in terms of premier-class world titles, a position he also holds for premier-class race wins, thanks to his 54 victories.

However, Doohan still holds the all-time record for premier-class poles, with 58 to his credit compared with 48 for nearest rival Rossi.

Rossi bruised but not seriously injured after motocross accident

The Fiat Yamaha rider suffered no serious injuries in the training fall and will take part in the Grand Prix of Japan next weekend.

Valentino Rossi has escaped with minor injuries after a fall in a motocross training exercise on Thursday near Pesaro.

At first the reigning World Champion did not feel any discomfort, but on Friday morning some pain in his back meant that Rossi opted to have a medical check-up.

An X-Ray confirmed that the 31 year-old Italian had sustained some bruising, but also ruled out any injuries that would prevent him from riding in the Grand Prix of Japan, to be held at the Motegi circuit from April 23rd-25th.

Six RI climbers look to conquer seven summits

Jakarta - The Youth and Sports Ministry on Monday announced a team of six mountain climbers who will embark on a perilous two-and-a-half-year expedition to become the first Indonesians to climb the seven highest mountains of the seven continents.

“There will be no mountain too high for our climbers to put up our red-and-white national flag,” said minister Andi Alifian Mallarangeng on the sidelines of Monday’s announcement of the Rp 12 billion Seven Summits Climbing Expedition.

The team consists of five male climbers Ardeshir Yaftebbi, 26, Iwan Irawan, 38, Martin Rimbawan, 28, Fajri Al Luthfi, 28, Nurhuda, 23 and female climber Gina Afriani, 22.

The first mountain the team will attempt is the 4884-meter-high summit of Carstensz Pyramid of the Jayawijaya Moutain Range, Papua.

After that comes, the 5892-meter-high summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and then Mount Elbrus in Russia, altitude 5642 meters, Mount Vinson Massif, Antartica, altitude 4897 meters, Mount McKinley, Alaska, altitude 6194 meters, Mount Aconcagua, Argentina, altitude 6962 meters and finally Mount Everest, Nepal, altitude 8850 meters.— JP

Jakarta - The country's promising chess squad for the Asian Games, the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) Irene Kharisma Sukandar and the Grandmaster (GM) Susanto Megaranto, will be challenged at the upcoming 5th JAPFA Chess Festival, where they will be duelling against prominent opponents of India and Georgia.

At the JAPFA Chess Festival running from April. 14-19 in Jakarta, Irene (2316) will have four-round duels against WGM Tania Sachdev (2393) of India, the country of origin of many top world-class chess players, while Susanto (2527) will play six-round duels against GM Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2634) of Georgia.

"We expect to see significant progress from both Irene and Susanto after their coaching periods with GM Ruslan Scherbakov of Russia since February," Indonesian Chess Association (PERCASI) head of league Utut Adianto said Monday to announce the festival, which will feature 12 events, including international duels, juniors, and common-player competitions.

"Technically, Irene and Susanto are slightly below their opponents," said Utut. In the final ranking crosstable after nine rounds at the Kuala Lumpur Open in Malaysia, which ended Monday, Susanto ranked fourth or two levels up from his starting rank, while Mchedlishvili ranked third. Meanwhile, at the same tournament, Irene finished 30th or nine levels above her previous rank.

Indonesia hopes to secure a bronze medal from chess at the Asian Games in Guangzhou in November. "We realize that China and India are currently leading the world's chess, while Indonesia is one-level below along with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Vietnam and Iran," said Utut. - JP

Chris John to face challenger Fernando Saucedo in Bali

Semarang, C Java - The title fight between WBA feather weight super champion Chris John and Fernando David Saucedo, will be held at Bali`s Kartika Plasa in Kuta beach area on May 22, 2010.

Zaenal Thayeb, owner of the Sasana Mirah Boxing Camp said from Semarang on Tuesday that the place of the boxing match has also ready been set, there is no problem.

"It is Kartika Plasa near Ngurah Rai airport. We have chosen the location because we also wished to promote the tourism sector to the outside world," he said.

He said he was still hoping to receive the pictures of Chris John`s challenger.

"I have asked Toni Priatna (Assistant Manager of Herry`s Gym) to bring Fernando`s photos, and I am still expecting them," he said.

He said the pictures of Chris John`s challenger is very important for the printing of invitations and other related matters.

He also said that Toni Priatna`s group also planned to send Australians to work with his team in preparing the fight, but they have not arrived yet.

When asked about Chris John`s preparations for the upcoming fight, he said he has no idea about it because Chris is always training at Herry`s Gym in Perth, Australia.

But he has news that Chris John and two boxers of the Sasana Mirah Boxing Camp will return to Indonesia on April 16 or 17, 2010.

Rossi ends Stoner's spell with slick win in Qatar

Defending world champion Valentino Rossi of Italy won the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday after Casey Stoner crashed out early in the season-opening Moto GP race.

Rossi finished 1.022 seconds ahead of Yahama teammate Jorge Lorenzo of Spain for his 104th career win and his first in the opening race of a season since 2005 at Jerez, Spain.

Stoner was aiming for his fourth successive win in Qatar, but the Australian skidded off the Losail International Circuit while leading the race in lap five.

"I was fast enough to win," Rossi said. "It became easy after Casey went out, but it is great way to start a season. This win is great for myself, my team and my supporters."

Andrea Doviziso of Italy was 1.865 seconds back in third.

The 31-year-old Rossi finished in 42 minutes, 50.099 seconds in what is the only night race on the 17-stop Moto GP calendar.

Nicky Hadyen of the United States was in the top three at one stage but was overtaken by Lorenzo and Doviziso to finish fourth.

"I did my maximum to overtake Hayden and I am glad I did that," Lorenzo said.

Ben Spies, Randy De Puniet, Dani Pedrosa, Colin Edwards, Loris Capirossi and Hiroshi Aoyama completed the top-10 riders.

Earlier, Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa won the first ever Moto2 race. The new 250cc category, which has all riders using Honda-built 600cc four-stroke engines and Dunlop tires, contained 41 riders for the first race.

Alex Debons and Jules Cluzel were next.

In the 122cc category, Nicolas Terol of Spain won to edge Efren Vazquez and Marc Marquez.

Woods returns to golf by finishing 4th at Masters

By most standards, Tiger Woods' comeback would be deemed a success. He contended for a fifth Masters title when some wondered if he'd even make the cut. He took a step toward winning back fans who were appalled by the serial cheating on his wife.

Woods didn't see it that way.

He came back to the Masters to win, not just contend. To him, there was no joy and no relief in tying for fourth in his first tournament in five months, only disappointment and frustration.

"That's not what I wanted," Woods said Sunday after finishing five strokes behind Phil Mickelson. "I wanted to win this tournament. As the week wore on, I kept hitting the ball worse."

He had vowed to tone down his emotions, try to smile a little more, acknowledge the fans every now and then. But that even temperament quickly faded as the poor shots piled up. He yelled at himself several times, loud enough for the gallery to hear and the television microphones to pick up. He flipped clubs away in anger.

Afterward, Woods got a bit testy when asked if the new Tiger was still a work in progress.

"I think people are making way too much of a big deal about this thing," he said. "I'm not going to be walking there with a lot of pep in my step because I hadn't hit a good shot yet."

Woods did hit some good shots, of course. The best Sunday was an 8-iron that he holed out from the fairway at No. 7 for an eagle. He followed with back-to-back birdies and made the turn just three strokes out of the lead, looking as though he was ready to make a charge.

But Woods has never come from behind on the final day to win a major, and this one wasn't any different.

Another errant tee shot at the 11th led to a bogey. Then, an inexplicable three-putt from 6 feet ended his hopes at the 14th.

He did bounce back to make an eagle on the par-5 15th, but Mickelson was pulling away at that point. A short birdie putt at the final hole only assured that Woods tied K.J. Choi for fourth place.

"I had another terrible warmup," Woods said. "I didn't have it. And it was pretty evident."

He yanked his opening drive into the adjacent ninth fairway and wound up with a bogey. Two more bogeys followed in the next five holes, and he was on the verge of falling off the leaderboard.

Even though he turned things around before heading to the back side, Woods never felt he was a serious contender.

"I still was pretty far out of it," he said. "The guys were making birdies on the easier holes and for most of the day I was four, five, six back. It's a long way to climb and I was still making mistakes out there. I made too many mistakes."

He seemed a little hard on himself.

But when Woods decided to return to golf at one of the biggest tournaments on the schedule, a place where he had captured four of his 14 career major titles, it was all in for the world's top-ranked player.

He was here for a fifth green jacket. Nothing else was acceptable.

"I entered this event and I only enter events to win," said Woods, whose wife Elin did not attend the tournament. "I didn't get it done. I didn't hit the ball good and I made too many mistakes around the greens. Consequently, I'm not there."

This was Woods' first tournament since November. A Thanksgiving night car crash had ripped his personal life apart, revealing a golfer with an impeccable reputation who was actually leading a sordid double life.

For a while mistresses were coming forward on an almost daily basis. Woods went into hiding and tried to figure out how to save his marriage. He even checked into rehab for 45 days, hoping to learn how it all went wrong, a process of self-examination that he admits revealed plenty of flaws.

Despite his disappointment Sunday, Woods clearly made the right personal decision to make his return at Augusta; it exhibits more control over ticketing and media credentials than any other tournament. Everyone expected the fans would be polite, and they seemed to warm to Woods as the week went on. The muted applause got louder and louder when it became apparent he would be a contender.

It might be different at future tournaments, where the crowds are rowdier and the tabloid media may have more success gaining access.

Woods is more concerned about getting his game in shape.

"Other than my backswing going bad and my downswing going bad, it wasn't too bad," he griped.

Woods said he's not sure when he'll play again, but the next stop in his comeback figures to be the Quail Hollow Championship, which begins April 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina. That would give him a tuneup for the Players Championship the following week, considered the biggest event on the PGA Tour outside of the four majors.

"I'm going to take a little time off," is all Woods would say, "and kind of re-evaluate things."

Barcelona's Iniesta out for a month

Barcelona will be without key midfielder Andres Iniesta for its Champions League semifinal matches against Inter Milan.

The club said Tuesday that Iniesta injured a muscle in his right leg during training and will be out for up to a month.

A similar injury forced him to miss the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Arsenal. He returned as a late substitute in the second leg and again in Saturday's domestic league clash against Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old Iniesta is also a key player for Spain, which is one of the favorites for the World Cup in South Africa.

Is Massa’s Formula 1 seat with Ferrari F1 up for grabs?

At this point, it’s nothing more than a rumor with conflicting and inconclusive reports from several publications, but Massa’s formula 1 career may be in for a turn as of 2011 with his Ferrari drive starting to get questioned.

Several Italian media sources have have reported on the story, but none have fully confirmed reports one way or another.

Some publications suggested that Ferrari’s Felipe Massa is close to extending his contract with Ferrari. Notoriously flaky (but also often correct) reports from German and Brazilian sources last week suggested the 28-year-old Brazilian is in talks to extend for another 3 seasons.

It is true that Massa’s contract is set to expire at the end of this 2010-11 season but do we want to be so rash as to suggest one way or the other so soon?

Contrary to expectations however some Italian sources have reported a more conservative line that (understandably so) Ferrari are not yet ready to finalize its 2011 driver lineup this early into the 2010 season. Most Ferrari driver announcements have traditionally been announced or inevitably leaked to the media around Monza and here we are just 3 races in.

When Italian publication ‘Sportevai’ spoke to Ferrari regarding the matter their question was simply sidestepped. A Ferrari spokesman replied that the subject is not on Ferrari’s immediate to do list and as put, “not currently a priority”.

Scandinavian sources (Turun Sanomat) however, are suggesting Robert Kubica (if the stars align) may make a move to Ferrari despite being under a long term contract with Renault past the 2011 season.

Regardless of reports, don’t expect to hear anything confirming Ferrari’s 2011 driver lineup until at least the end of the season.

President says national soccer needs improvement

Malang - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said a national movement was needed to move the national soccer team forward.

"We have to improve the national soccer team and be optimistic that it will gain its glory both at national and international level," President Yudhoyono said at a function to open the National Soccer Congress 2010 (KSN 2010) at Ken Arok sports stadium in Malang, East Java, on Tuesday morning.

The head of state was of the opinion that a national movement with optimism was the only way revive the national soccer team.

Therefore, he called on all people of Indonesia to have one determination to moving the national soccer team forward.

According to the president, the progress of the national soccer team was not an impossibility because Indonesia has the human resources, talent, spirit, and the history of success.

"With our big population we have talent and thus there is no excuse whatsoever that Indonesia will not one day have good soccer players," the president said.

Meanwhile, all Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) Malang City General Chairman Peni Suparto said KSN was expected to give birth to a national soccer team which would become an "Asian Tiger".

He expressed concern with the current performance of Indonesian soccer which is practically "helpless" at ASEAN level.

Therefore, he said the KSN would produce recommendations to improve the national soccer system and improve the performance of the national team in international events, especially in Asia.

The idea to hold the KSN in Malang came from the President who was rather disappointed with the performance of the national soccer team which had been constantly declining, and even at ASEAN level, Indonesia could not do much.

Malang was chosen to host the event because the East Java tourist resort city managed to usher two national professional teams to the 2009/2010 LSI, and the achievement of Aremania (Arema`s supporters) which had been awarded the best supporter tile.

Later in the afternoon, the Head of State was slated to watch a football match between Arema Indonesia and North Jakarta Persitara at the Kanjuruhan stadium in Kepanjen, Malang.

Financial Analyst & SOA Officer for PT. Siemens Hearing Instruments Batam

Responsibilities:
* Budgeting / forecasting for entity, including liaison with shareholder / customer including set-up of an integrated budgeting / forecasting process.
* Controlling & financial analysis of full financial statements, including cost controlling, manufacturing controlling including productivity and overhead controlling, asset management and Business Improvement Projects.
* Handle all commercial / business administration questions, enabling segration of duties, in ordering, approval of expenses and investments, contract reviews etc.
* Set-up and perform Internal Control System (jointly with ICS Officer) and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance including the role of SOA Officer, regular ICR(Internal Control Remediation) and CCM(Continuous Control Monitoring) follow up.
* Review "inbound" guidelines and regulations, external as well as internal, and implement them. Set-up internal rules and regulations, including Limits of Authority, in the commercial and controlling environment and implement them. Regularly review internal processes and update them.
* Drive the SAP implementation for the CO modul, including process review, data migration, testing and implementation.
* Handle special projects.
* Regularly liaise with shareholder, for knowledge sharing, including regular trips to Singapore.
* Must be flexible to take up all kinds of assignments.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies/Administration/Management or Business/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent.
* At least 5 year(s) of working experience in accounting & controlling in manufacturing environment preferably in MNC, as well as 2-3 year(s) of experience in internal control systems / Sarbenes Oxley Act / process environment.
* At least 1-2 year(s) supervisory experience
* Must be able to lead medium size projects including other members of other departments and companies.
* Proficient of ERP System Application (SAP), Auditing & Contract Law
* Experience in Controlling / Financial Analysis, International Accounting Standards (IFRS, GAAP).
