Solo, C. Java - An Asian Football Confederation (AFC) representative together with an Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) Normalization Committee member here on Monday inspected preparations for the upcoming PSSI congress.

AFC representative, Jim Jhonson met with the Normalization Committee (KN) member Joko Driyono, Surakarta police chief Adjunct police commissioner Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the representative of congress organizing committee as the effort to check the PSSI congress preparation.

Joko said Jim Jhonson on the occasion checked several facilities for the congress among others place, logistics, the meeting sessions and security affairs.

"During our two-day stay in Solo, we will coordinate with the local committee," Joko said.

In the meantime, Surakarta deputy mayor who is concurrently one of the Normalization Committee members FX Hadi Rudyatmo said Solo city had already prepared the location of the congress sessions, including the carnival presentation to welcome participants of the extraordinary congress.

The Normalization Committee of the PSSI will resume its congress on July 9, 2011 in Solo, following its failure to elect a new chairman in its last congress in Jakarta on May 20.

The PSSI extraordinary congress will elect a new PSSI chairman, deputy chairman and executive committee.

The Normalization Committee`s failure to elect the new PSSI executive board chairman through its congress recently was due to rivalries that had prompted FIFA to seek a settlement.

The failure also prompted Indonesia to struggle hard to avoid sanctions from the world`s football governing body FIFA.(*)
