Ex-MotoGP bridesmaid Sete Gibernau was back on the prowl in Catalunya looking more suspicious than Anthony Gobert in an old person's home.
"He was just prowling around looking very smug and very camp" observed one pitlane person who'd 'accidentally got lost' during a VIP Village pitlane tour "I mean a sleeveless T-shirt and a reversed baseball cap? Who dressed him? A Pantera tribute band?"
Throughout his long and almost-but-not-quite illustrious career Jester Gibernau could always be relied upon to bring a smile to even the sternest Pedrosa family member. Physically his hairstyle and constant soured head were always worth a laugh but it was his on-track gaffs and mishaps where the Spaniard really excelled*.
But as the rest of the world reminisced and laughed at him one horse-faced man, Marco Melandri, wasn't finding his creepy presence very funny. Even with that hairstyle.
Rumours at the Catalunya race were rife that both Randy Mamola was born a woman and that the bull-stabbing Gibbers was greasing up to Ducati looking to replace Melandri on the factory machine. These rumours were strengthened when the Spaniard unexpectedly shunned Gresini's 200th GP celebration party yet was openly seen meeting Livio Suppo and the sandwich sounding Niccolò Canepa.
Meanwhile on day two of the post-race test at Catalunya Melandri only managed a handful of laps on the new 'carbon look' GP9 Ducati before pissing off home in a sulk possibly having learnt his fate.
Despite Suppo refusing to talk to the media it's believed that the Jester may replace Melandri as soon as Assen on the 28th of June.
