WSB: Biaggi Aprilia deal done?

According to reports in some Italian press this morning, Max Biaggi has just signed on the dotted line for a one year deal with Aprilia in WSB.

The Italian will contest the company's all-new RSV4 superbike in the big bike class. He will ride in a one man Biaggi-Aprilia squad in all-Italian colours (ever the patriot, Max).

The move marks the final step in a high-profile official return to the class for the Italian company. Their exit from WSB in 2001 was put down to financial problems at the time.

The news will come as a disappointment to racing legend Jorge Martinez, who has been widely tipped as pursuing Biaggi for the vacant third Kawasaki MotoGP ride next year.

As yet, there is no official notification of the deal from either Biaggi or the factory. We'll bring you any news on that the moment we have it.
