Hulkenberg takes first career pole position at Interlagos

Williams’ rookie Nico Hulkenberg grabbed today at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil, his first ever pole position in F1 racing.

The young German clocked a best time of 1:14.470, beating by more than a second Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (1:15.519) and Mark Webber (1:15.637).

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth (1:15.747), ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso (1:15.989), local hero Rubens Barrichello (1:16.203), Renault’s Robert Kubica (1:16.552), Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher (1:16.925), Ferrari’s Felipe Massa (1:17.101) and Renault’s Vitaly Petrov (1:17.656).

Reigning world champion Jenson Button qualified 11th and was followed by Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg and Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari.
